Grand Sumatra Overland
     
Day 1: Medan – Brastagi
Touch down at Medan’s Polonia Airport. Following immigration and customs formalities, you will be met at transferred directly to mountain resort of Brastagi through the lush tropical rain forest of Sumatra. On arrival at Brastagi, you will visit to the typical Batak village with number of traditional Batak Karo houses that are still being used. Also you will visit to the traditional fruit market. L/D

Day 2: Brastagi – Samosir Island
Depart for Parapat – a famous holiday resort lies on the east shore of Lake Toba. A stop will be made at the slender waterfall in Karo Highlands; it drops from a great height into a gorge. Continue to the Ancient King’s Palace of Simalungun at Pematang Purba. And then pass through the fertile vegetable and fruit farms, pine tree forest and magnificent view of Lake Toba along the most part of the journey. On arrival at Parapat, you will board the boat and cross the Lake for about 45 minutes to Samosir Island. B/L/D

Day 3: Samosir Island – Parapat
To fully enjoy the lake scenery and the Batak tribe, a leisurely morning cruise around the lake, which bring you to Tomok. Here you will visit the tomb of animistic King Sidabutar. Then on to Ambarita, which has three megalithic complexes and Simanindo – an outstanding King’s house and enjoy the folklore dance performance of Batak Toba. Return to the Parapat and enjoy a relaxing afternoon at leisure. B/L/D

Day 4: Parapat – Padang Sidempuan
Depart for Sibolga some 180 km from Parapat. En route you will visit Lumban Garaga and the small town of Baliga with its richly ornamented market building. And then continue to Padang Sidempuan for overnight stay. B/L/D

Day 5: Padang Sidempuan – Bukittinggi
Today’s drive will be long but most memorable one, as you cross the equator in the heart of fourth largest island in the world. The interior terrain of Sumatra is stunning, crass-crossed by rugged mountain chains, deep rivers and steep valleys. The countryside is covered with impenetrable tropical jungle. You will arrive in the late afternoon in the quaint highland town of Bukittinggi – the heart of Minangkabau culture. B/L/D

Day 6: Bukittinggi
You will enjoy full day tour to explore the beauty and the culture aspects of the Minangkabau. You will visit to the landmark of Bukittinggi – Jam Gadang (Clock Tower), the uniqueness of the local market, museum and Ngarai Sianok grand valley and Koto Gadang is famous for its silver works and hand embroidery. Then travel to Pagaruyung - the site of the ancient Minangkabau Kingdom, where woman once ruled in matrilineal society. Before returning to the hotel, you will visit to the traditional village of Lima Kaum and Balimbing. B/L/D

Day 7: Bukkittinggi – Padang
You will travel to Embun Pagi Viewpoint, to enjoy the beautiful scenery of Lake Maninjau. And then proceed to Lawang Top to watch the traditional sugar refinery powered by buffalo (closed on Sundays). Then continue on to Padang, the capital city of West Sumatra Province. En route you will make a stop at Anai Valley to enjoy the beauty and greenery of Anai valley Park. On arrival, you will be transferred directly to the hotel for overnight. B/L/D

Day 8: Depart Padang
On time you will be transferred to the Airport to connect with your flight to the next destination. B
